Check out our new Blog!

Good morning La Pine Picklers!

Welcome to our newly created blog for all things LPPC related. This page will be managed by me, Jim Price, the current President of our fine little club. Here’s how this will work:

In lieu of a monthly newsletter, we will be adding content here for you to read and review. These posts will contain updates, schedule changes, comments about recent events and some fun stuff to keep y’all interested.

But this is not just me talking. We want you to submit content for posting. I’ll manage the content before posting it here, but we want to hear from you!

Please keep your posting requests civil and appropriate for our membership. If there is a conflict that is better dealt in person/private, I’ll reach out to you for further discussion. If you think it’s something the club needs to hear about, we’ll get it posted here!

At this time we will leave the comments section turned off. We don’t want this to turn into a rant or rave platform, just a good place to get information. If you have a concern or a follow up comment, you are welcome to email the main email address: lapinepick@gmail.com.

Now on with the show!

Our board met yesterday for several reasons. The first was to hand over the reigns to our new board members. Here is your new board for the 2020- 2021 year:

Jim Price- President

Jim Burdick- Vice President

Mark O’Brien- Treasurer

Kristie Burdett- Secretary

Karen O’Cull- Member at Large

A big thank you to these folks for stepping up and making the commitment to run this club!

Also, I would be lacking if I didn’t give a huge thank you to Vera Davidson & Andie Price as they leave their offices this year.

Vera has been on the board continuously for 5 years, in various roles. She has been instrumental in building this club, running the Frontier Days tournament, getting the new floors installed in the park & rec building and getting our Finley Butte courts built. Her dedication and time commitment to this club should be felt by all of us and I’m sure her legacy will live on well past the time she put in here. You’ll still see her around, so don't fear, she’s still got our backs and will still be our tournament director for this year’s Frontier Days tournament. Vera, on behalf of all of us, THANK YOU for everything you’ve done to make this club what it is today!

Andie, my dear wife, has been a phenomenal secretary for the past 2 and 1/2 years. She supported the board in more ways than we can count. She built this website from scratch! She initiated and managed the Signup Genius implementation. She’s volunteered and put in a huge amount of time for pretty much everything we’ve done here! Oh, and she’s been the diplomatic responder to the emails that have come in from our members, and you know that’s not always easy. THANK YOU Andie for all that you’ve done for our club! You have big shoes to fill.

NEW COURTS

Okay, I think one of the biggest news items this week is that they have begun the surfacing of our new courts as of yesterday. If you have some time this week, head out and take a look at the progress. We finally have enough warm weather strung together to get this done. I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited to see this project finally get to something that resembles a pickleball court! :) I personally want to thank Mark O’Brien for spearheading this project in many ways. He’s stayed in contact with (and kept accountable) the contractor doing this job for us. He’s had cleanup crews out many times and has put in more elbow grease than anyone else. Thanks Mark! It’s great to have you out there everyday making things happen!

We will have much more info coming soon on all of this stuff, so I’ll stop here for now.

If you have a post suggestion you’d like to see here, email us and hopefully we can address it.

Happy Pickling!

Jim Price
