 Open Play

During Open Play, members and visitors generally mix across courts and take turns playing with and against each other. Typically, once there are 4 players, play starts. After that, put your paddle in the holder at the court you want to play on to claim the next game. If all 4 players came onto the court together, the losing team leaves after the first game. Play no more than 2 games on a court before rotating off if other players are waiting. There are 2 courts set aside for “Advanced” Open Play, which are for 4.0 and above players specifically, and 2 courts available to reserve ahead of time by members. Open Play offers schedule flexibility, where people can arrive and leave when convenient. Sign up anytime ahead of and through the end of Open Play time. This is a great way to meet new people and have some fun playing in a low-pressure setting.

Paddle Battle

Paddle Battles are fun, competitive events where you sign up with a partner ahead of time, whom you will play with the whole time. Paddle Battles are organized by rating so that players of similar ratings compete against each other.

Typically, there will be eight games, each lasting either to a certain number of points (11, win by 2 usually) or a time limit, whichever comes first. If the game is tied when time is up, the team who makes the next point wins, regardless of who serves (also known as “sudden death”). You will be randomly assigned a court at the start, and then it will go “Ladder style”: win and you move up a court for the next game; lose and you move down.

Round Robin

Round Robins are a very fun social event where you will mix with different partners each round. Get a number when you arrive, and then each round your number will tell you which court you are on and who your partner is. These are typically done monthly. Make sure you sign up ahead of time, so the organizers know how many people to expect.
