Being Good Neighbors

Good morning and Happy Fourth of July LPPC Picklers!

I wanted to send out a quick blog post regarding some updates and the like. First, a huge THANK YOU to several of our members:

Matt B. brought in some newly built wood benches that are now set along the corridor between the courts.

Al & Michelle S. gave us a brand new umbrella with stand.

Bruce & Staci C. gave us a very large sun umbrella (we’ll need to mount that one somewhere because it could shade a small car).

Mike & Cheryl P. gave us several shelves.

Jack & Ellen R. helped us facilitate getting electrical to both the new shed and the storage building. We now have power and lights in both places. And they are paying for the labor that it took to make this happen. Amazing!

Jim S. put a nice finishing edge on the deck that Mark & Dick built.

I’m sure I missed someone and if so, I apologize. We have so many great members stepping up to make our courts better, it’s fantastic to see!

Okay, the main point of this blog is the fact that we are the new neighbors on this street. With that comes a request to be respectful and courteous to those folks we have just inundated. I know we all love the sounds of pickleball in the morning, but the neighbors may not have quite caught the bug yet. So to honor those people whose homes are literally right next door, please drive in and leave SLOWLY. Please keep your voices to a reasonable level in the early hours. And please just display an overall courtesy and politeness to the neighborhood. We are also representing La Pine Park & Rec by being there and we want that relationship to be a good one for many years to come.

Thanks to all of you who represent our club well! You are appreciated!

Now go out there and enjoy a hot dog, a beer and some good old-fashioned socially-distanced 4th of July fun!

Jim P.
