August 2022 Member Update

Reminder: Aug. 6 (this Saturday!): Round Robin and Potluck

We have our monthly round robin and potluck coming up this weekend. If you’ve already signed up for the Round Robin, please make sure to arrive on time — arrive by 8:30 am for play starting at 8:45. If you are late, there is no guarantee you will play. If you haven’t signed up but want to play, check Court Reserve. A spot or two are available as of this posting, and possibly we’ll have some cancellations this week.

After the round robin, stick around for a potluck (bring a dish to share) starting approximately 11:00 am, and open play as well. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend the potluck, even if you don’t play in the round robin.

Parking

LPRD has asked that we do NOT park under the trees, on the street next to the picnic tables. Please park in the parking lot.

Hours of Play

As you have probably noticed, with the recent heat, Open Play at our courts is getting shifted earlier in the day. In general, folks are showing up to play around 8 am. Make sure to check the notes people write on their Court Reserve sign up to see when to come out to play.

How To Sign up for Open Play

Sign into Court Reserve.

Top left, click on “Events” and then “Calendar”.

Scroll through the calendar to find the day(s) you are interested in and click “Register”.

Click a tab called “Registrants” if you want to see who is already signed up and any notes they have included (see image at right for a current example).

Click “Register”, add your own notes, scroll down and click “Finalize Registration”.

Paddle Battles

Reminder that our club hosts 2 paddle battles per week:

Mondays 6 pm - 8 pm: 3.5+ club members and guests

Wednesdays 9 am - 11 am: 3.0+ club members and guests

We recommend arriving up to 30 minutes early to warm up, as we start the rounds promptly at the listed start time. If you want to learn more about how a battle works, read here. Grab a partner, find the battles on the Court Reserve calendar, and sign up!

(Apologies if I missed anyone, and sorry I don’t have any pics of Jim on the podium)
