Soft Opening!!

Good afternoon LPPC Picklers,

Well the time has arrived! We’ve crossed our Ts and dotted our Is and have been given the green light to get this party started!

Over the next few days, I’ll probably be sending several different posts out describing next steps. But for now we’ve decided to get this going with a soft opening of the courts over the next 3 days.

Beginning tomorrow morning, your board will be at the courts at 8 am to get set up. You are invited to come by from 9am - 12pm tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. We are not going through Signup Genius for these 3 days. Rather, we just want people to come on by when you like during these hours. We’ll be giving everyone the rundown on protocols, schedules, etc. and answering any questions you might have. Bring your gear because the courts will be open for play. Joe is holding a boot camp as well, so one of the courts is dedicated to his group. That leaves 7 courts to play on. We’ll get you out on the courts in similar skill sets once we know who’s there.

A few things to understand:

1) We have a series of protocols we have to follow to make all of this happen. Please be respectful and patient as we explain everything to you so everyone is on the same page.

2) Please bring your own water and chair if you need it. There is no public seating to speak of at this point.

3) At this time, there are no public restrooms so plan accordingly. I’ve been told that we will be getting a couple of outhouses soon, but for now, we have to hold it.

4) We need our captains! If you are already designated as a captain, please make an effort to come by the courts sometime this weekend to see the process. If you would like to be a captain, please come by and we’ll explain how it works and see if you are good fit. LPRD requires all volunteer captains go through a background check, so we’ll have those forms available to fill out.

5) An attendance log is required at this time. We will record all players who are there, including contact info for the sake of contact tracing, should something happen. Please plan on providing us your info when you arrive.

I think this is a good start. So get your shoes, find your paddles and we’ll hope to see you on the courts in the next 3 days.

Oh, and LPPC will be providing the balls for play (we have to monitor the sanitation so you’ll need to play with the ones we provide).

See you all soon!

Jim Price
