Good morning everyone! We are gradually getting our courts surfaced and this week is showing some nice improvements. David Taylor, our local stump grinder, took care of the additional stumps created from our cleanup day. As I mentioned before, please send him business if you or someone you know needs some stumps taken out. He can be reached at 541-536-4793.
We are now looking at some additional work to be done and I wanted to ask our members to see if anyone has the equipment we need.
First, we are going to dig a ditch along the courts to keep the jack pines from sending roots under our beautiful new courts. So we need a ditch witch. We’ll rent one if we need to, but wanted to see if anyone has one available first.
Next, we are putting a shed onto the property that will become our tournament/club building. We have secured the shed, but we need to move it into position. That requires a flat bed/low boy trailer, some lifting equipment (tractor/forklift) etc., as well as some expertise in moving buildings. If anyone is familiar with this or has heavy duty moving equipment, please let me know.
We will also be putting down gravel before we set the shed, so need a compactor for the gravel. If you have one of those great little machines, let us know.
I know everyone is wondering about opening up court play. I’ve been in contact with Karen at LPRD and will hopefully have some more answers later this week. The indoor courts opening doesn’t look good right now because of the costs involved. The outdoor courts, however, should be a go sooner rather than later, so I’m hopeful that we will have some good news on that front soon.
Thanks everyone and have a great week in this beautiful, sunny central Oregon weather!
Jim Price
